Note:- Here I’ve translated the expression ‘xodraa be un raah zadan’, as
and ‘to look the other way’ ‘ to act dumb’ and ‘xod ro be kucheye Ali chap
zadan’ as ‘to play dumb’ ‘to play ignorant/the fool’
Hi Dear, I would like to tell you the expression ‘to look the other way*’ (so)I’ll say (it) for you….when someone ‘looks the other way’ he pretends that he doesn’t understand something, he didn’t comprehend something.
For example, some people somewhere, imagine they are in this situation, some people are somewhere, they are all cleaning the house. So, I come, and I play dumb.
Like, it’s as if, as if not at all should I come and help, imagine… Or I say something to my friend, and he acts dumb. He’s not at all himself. He acts like it’s me who didn’t hear but he didn’t hear what I said.
Another meaning close (to this one) too, is ‘to play ignorant’. For sure, there’s a story behind it, but I don’t know what that story is exactly. They say though, for example in the very same situation ‘so and so’ is playing dumb/ignorant, like he didn’t understand at all what the story was, so he is acting falsely like he doesn’t understand.
